Region 5 - Straits of Mackinac

Experience the Straits of Mackinac by driving on the Mackinac Bridge, 200 feet above the water with Lake Michigan on one side and Lake Huron on the other. If you like boating, take a 38-mile inland waterway trip from Lake Huron through a chain of rivers, locks and scenic lakes. Any number of day trips by automobile are available, taking you to forts, parks, and through a tunnel of trees to villages where you can browse in elegant boutiques. Or leave your car, and take a ferry boat, step back in time and experience an unhurried vacation on Mackinac Island where transportation is limited to horse-drawn carriages and bicycles.
